For all the hand-wringing over the phrase, "A woman's place is in the kitchen", there has never been a woman at the helm of the White House Kitchen...
...until now...
Cris Comerford is the first female to be named to the position of White House executive chef. Definitely one of the most prestigious positions a chef can hold. Also one of the most grueling -- she's responsible for a wide range of things -- from making sure the First Family has ample amounts of things to nosh on to ensuring that State Dinners run smoothly.
Not only is she the first woman to be the White House's executive chef -- she's also a native-born Filipina. From what I hear of her abilities, though, she's the right woman for the job.
Of course, I now wonder this: will adobo and lumpia appear on the White House menu during her term as commander-in-chef? ;)
